Last Thursday, the Quaker Valley Track & Field team traveled to Butler Area High School for the 60th Annual Butler Invitational.  This is one of the largest invitationals in the state with nearly 100 schools participating.  This year, the Quaker Valley boys team made history by becoming the first AA school to win the meet outright with 66 total team points.  The Quaker Valley girls team also had quite an impressive performance, finishing 3rd overall with 35.50 total points.  The full Meet Results can be found here.

The team performances were just the icing on the cake after a truly historic meet for the Quakers.  On Thursday, there were 5 school records broken and an additional 9 other top 5 marks in school history.

On the boys side, the following school records were broken.

The boys 4x400m relay team, consisting of James Irwin, Macky Gartley, Jackson Pethel, and Clark LaLomia, broke a 43-year old record with a time of 3:23.03.
Jonah Montagnese set a new school record in the 3200m with a time of 8:56.66.  Jonah finished in first place overall and set a new Butler Invitational meet record.
Clark LaLomia set a new school record in the 800m with a time of 1:53.41.  Clark finished 2nd overall in the meet, racing his teammate, Jackson Pethel, whose time would have also broken the previous school record. Jackson's time of 1:54.80 is now 2nd all-time.
Thomas Debelak's performance in triple jump was enough to broke his own school record with a jump of 45-10.5.
Macky Gartley also broke his own school record in the 300m hurdles with a time of 38.55.  Macky also improved his 110m hurdles mark to 14.37, taking first place in both the 110m and 300m hurdles, along with 2nd place in the 4x400m relay.  Macky's cumulative performance earned him the track athlete MVP award for the Butler Invitational.

Congratulations to all of the boys for making history!
